Other Spring Events—Plant Sale and Plant Shows

 

 

PLANT SALE

WHAT:              Dallas Arboretum’s annual Plant Sale, featuring 23,000 plants tested and proven by the trial program. Color displays, perennials, summer foliage annuals, agaves, succulents, tropical and rare plants.

WHEN:              Saturday April 21 8am- 5pm, and Sunday, April 22, 8am-12pm.

WHERE:           Parking lot of the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Rd, Dallas TX 75218  

COST:              Free admission for Plant Sale, most plants cost between $1-$10.

ALSO:              An April 20th Plant Sale Class taught by Jimmy Turner, “Lone Star Greats: Tough Texas Plants.” $20 per person, includes invitation to the exclusive preview sale before it opens to the public.

BONSAI SHOW

WHAT:              Bonsai Society of Dallas’ annual Bonsai Show, featuring more than 25 bonsai trees ranging in age from 10 to 100 years old. The show is a semi-formal display of the private collection of members’ bonsai trees ranging in size from six inches to two feet tall, and featuring conifer, flowering and fruiting trees.

WHEN:              Saturday, March 3, From 9am until 5pm, and Sunday March 4, 9am-4pm.

WHERE:           Rosine Hall at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Rd, Dallas TX 75218  

COST:              Free with general admission: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for children 3-12 and free for Arboretum members and children 2 and under. On-site parking is $5.

ALSO:              A March 3rd adult education class offered at the Arboretum called “The Art of Bonsai.” Prices and registration for the class can be found at dallasarboretum.org.

TEXAS STATE DAFFODIL SHOW

WHAT:              Texas State Daffodil Show, displaying 200 exhibits and over 300 blooms in yellow, pink, red and orange. The show is open for exhibitors, who will be judged and awarded according to American Daffodil Society standards. Those interested in exhibiting should contact Rod Armstrong at 972.517.2218.

ROSE SHOW

WHAT:              The Dallas Rose Society will present its spring show, open to the public, featuring the best and many uncommon varieties of this romantic flower. Those wishing to exhibit should contact Turner Hasty at 214.350.7023.

WHEN: Saturday, April 28, from 12pm-4pm
