Creative Arts Classes
Creative Arts classes at the Dallas Arboretum give you an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a number of fun and inspired classes.

New! Oshibana – The Art of Pressed Flowers
October 22, 9am-3pm, $80 ($72 for Members)
Pavlina Panova, Pavlina Art
Using small treasures from the garden, you will learn simple techniques to press material that can be used for cards or larger art pieces. Using leaves, petals, grasses, bark and more, Pavlina will help you create your own farmable work of art to take home.
Watercolor en Plein Air

Beginning Watercolor, A Botanical Study

Get inspired by the natural beauty of the gardens as we journey into this wonderful medium. Students will receive all materials necessary to get started – a brush, paints and practice paper – as we learn the basics of watercolor painting.
Introduction to Colored Pencil

This one day workshop is a great start to using colored pencils. Through lecture, time in the garden, and studio work, Noriko will show you tools and techniques to create beautiful works of art. All levels welcome. All supplies provided.
Eco-Printing on Silk
November 12, 9am-3pm, $110 ($99 for Members)
Suzanne Morgan, Creative Arts Center Instructor
Transform a piece of nature into a stunning silk scarf using leaves from the garden. Suzanne will walk you through the process of eco-printing as you experiment with various bark, leaves and flowers. You will also make sample prints on paper to begin your eco-color library.
Plein Air Painting at the Arboretum with SMU CAPE
December 3-5, 9am-3pm, $375 ($338 for Members & SMU Alumni)

This three-day intensive workshop welcomes beginners and more advanced students for a focused, on-site painting experience at the Arboretum. Develop strong, fundamental painting skills and experiment with a variety of approaches and solutions to the challenges of painting outdoors. Each day begins in the classroom for lecture, group discussion or demonstrations. Working at various locations throughout the Arboretum, you will receive guidance and individual critique from the instructor. Supply list provided upon registration.
Fused Art Glass Classes
