Creative Arts classes at the Dallas Arboretum give you an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a number of fun and inspired classes.

Learn to capture a piece of the garden and preserve it forever in pure silver. Using Precious Metal Clay (PMC), you will learn how to transform a piece of nature into a stunning pendant using leaves, molds and stamps. Materials include enough silver clay to make one or two pendants, depending upon size. No experience is necessary and all supplies will be provided.

Pastel painting is a great medium for beginning artists to explore and achieve wonderful results. Karen will introduce you to the basics of pastels and takes you from beginning sketch to final pastel painting while as you learn about materials, form and color blending. All skill levels welcome. This three-day intensive workshop welcomes beginners as well as more advanced students for a focused painting experience working on site at the Dallas Arboretum. You’ll develop strong fundamental painting skills and will be able to experiment with a variety of approaches and solutions to the challenges of painting outdoors. Each day will begin in the classroom for lecture, group discussion or demonstrations; students then will work at various locations throughout the Arboretum and will receive guidance and individual critique from the instructor throughout the day. Multiple opportunities for individual and group learning will contribute to your experience and growth throughout the workshop. Supply list provided upon registration.
