Allen Rokach, Allen Rokach Photography
This December, join former Senior Photography Editor for Southern Living, Allen Rokach, as he shows you how to capture the natural beauty of two incredible destinations. This unusual 9-day nature photography workshop takes participants to two distinctive locations in New Mexico to photograph two extraordinary aspects of nature. The trip will begin outside of Albuquerque at Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge, which is the winter nesting ground for huge flocks of frisky Snow Geese and elegant Sandhill Cranes, plus other birds and wildlife. Outings at sunrise and late afternoon until sunset will enable us to capture each location in the most dramatic light.
You will learn how to create compelling compositions as well as how to use New Mexico’s luminescent light to create dramatic images of the cranes and snow geese in an enchanting environment. At White Sands National Monument, you will make innovative pictures of the pristine environment of gypsum dunes. You will practice a variety of approaches to composition, such as capturing overviews, vignettes and details; integrating desert plants with the dunes; and looking for abstractions, shapes, lines and textures.
