Planning on coming to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden and also a visit to the Rory Meyers Children’s
Q. What to wear?
A. Comfortable clothes and shoes. The Arboretum is a 66-acre garden, including the eight-acre Children’s Garden. Wear a hat and sunscreen
Q. Food and snacks?
A. There are several dining options and drink machines on site including a seated restaurant. There are sandwiches, soups and salads as well as snack items to order.
Q. Food from Home?
A. Yes, you can bring your own picnic basket with food, snacks and any drinks of choice.
Q. Where to eat, picnic or have tea?
A. In the botanic garden, bring a picnic blanket and picnic on the grounds anywhere you wish except in dining areas. There are limited picnic tables. During Festivals, the Restaurant DeGolyer has outdoor table service. High Tea is served in Restaurant DeGolyer. Tea is by reservation only, please call 214.515.6511. In the Children’s Garden dining locations for food purchased or brought into the garden are allowed only in specific areas.
A. You can bring your own wagon to carry your kids or your belongings. There are wagons available for rent for $10.00 at the Information Booth at the main public entry at
Q. Wheelchairs and strollers?
A. Wheelchairs and strollers are allowed throughout the gardens including the Children’s Garden. Wheelchairs are available from the Information Booth at no cost, on a first-come, first-served basis.
A. Bicycles are not allowed in the garden. There is a designated bicycle stand in the main parking lot. Please inquire with the parking attendants for directions to park your bicycle.
Q. Pets and assistance animals?
A. Pets are prohibited in the gardens. Licensed, assistance animals being used by disabled individuals are permitted.
Q. Balls and Balloons?
A. To protect the plant collections, active sports and games are not permitted. Prohibited games and activities include, but are not limited to: kites, Frisbees, egg hunts, roller skating, footballs, baseballs and soccer balls. Balloons are prohibited.
Q. Cooking, grilling and candles?
A. All outdoor flames are prohibited including candles.
Q. Photography and changing clothes?
A. Personal photography is allowed in the garden. Bridal and Quinceanera photo shoots are allowed in the botanic garden but photography equipment must not impede the general walkways / doorways. No one is permitted to change clothes in public restrooms; brides and Quinceaneras must come already dressed for photo shoots. There is a VIP Room available for rental Mondays through Fridays only.
In the Children’s Garden, however, bridal and Quinceanera photo shoots, or tripods or professional photography equipment are not permitted. Personal photography with cell phones and cameras are permitted.
Q. Personal Music?
A. All amplified music or noise-making devices are not permitted, unless pre-approved by the Arboretum.
Q. Admission Fees?
A. General Admission Fees are charged to enter the garden. Entrance into the Children’s Garden is an additional entrance fee beyond the General Admission Fee, and pre-purchased, timed tickets are required. If available, tickets to the Children’s Garden may be purchased on-site.
Additional information for the enjoyment of all:
- Please do not stand in or walk in garden beds or climb trees or shrubs. Do not pick flowers. Do not take or harm any of the wildlife. This includes not feeding squirrels.
- Please do not play in the water features.
- Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
- The Dallas Arboretum honors discounts on our website only. Incorrect pricing and promotions by other entities will not be accepted.
