Delight in the joy of spring at one of the "15 most breathtaking gardens in the world," featuring 103 artist tents displaying a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, 2-D and 3-D mixed media, photography and more. A blue ribbon committee has reimagined Artscape and is adding inventive, audience-pleasing elements for 2017. New elements this year include a university zone with artwork and Dallas galleries featuring artwork for sale in the DeGolyer House.
DeGolyer House will be transformed into a fine art gallery, featuring art from Dallas’s top galleries, on display and for sale.
About Artscape Reimagined
The layout of Artscape comes from the mind of international landscape designer, Salvador Impastato, designed to maximize audience flow and give excellent visibility for the artists. Medieval-village-inspired signage on wrought iron will guide guests as they enjoy Artscape, which will also include a Children’s Art Activity area, a stage where musical groups will take turns to perform, and Artists prizes will be presented– a headquarters for “door prize” Drawings which we will make on the hour every hour, and, lastly, a route from the Pecan Grove to our next major element for Artscape Reimagined: the University Zone.
In the grassy area of the circular drive at the DeGolyer, universities will be represented by professors and/or students selling their works of art. Knowing that art departments have little budget, we are not charging the universities to participate and will provide them with their tents. When we have the list of confirmed universities, we hope our Arboretum family members will join the fun and support their alma mater by underwriting that school’s booth!
