This endowed series encourages parents or grandparents to spend quality time with younger members of their family. Hands-on classes are geared towards children ages 5-8 and an accompanying adult. Class size is limited, so sign up early.

Farm to Fork Series with Greer Farms

The Dallas Arboretum has teamed up with Greer Farms out of Dangerfield, Texas to offer a series of cooking classes, a different menu every class, taught by Chef Eva Greer.

May 13: May Day - Roasted new potatoes, and spring green beans, pork scallopini with capers and lemon, and lavender creme brulee (note, this class was originally scheduled for May 20, but was rescheduled to a week earlier, May 13.)

Registered Dietitians Emily Weeks and Dixya Bhattarai welcome you to their summer cooking series entitled, Gather: Garden to Table. A fun, hands-on class that promotes seasonal cooking and a love for food. Refine your kitchen skills and explore new ways to incorporate fresh in-season produce from your garden or local grocer. Great for all levels of experience, from seasoned cooks to beginners looking to expand their culinary skills.

May 6: Spring Greens Brunch

Warm Spring weather is the perfect reason for a sunny Sunday brunch! In this fun, interactive class, you’ll learn techniques for creating a delicious spread of brunch favorites including a flavorful risotto with fresh julienned basil, cherry tomato quiche, and seasonal roasted vegetables. Enjoy tastes of a variety of adventurous dishes to satisfy every taste bud and craving.

June 3: Mediterranean Table

Explore Mediterranean cooking techniques and classic menu featuring bold flavors the whole family will love. In this fun, interactive class, you will learn how to build a Mediterranean flavor palate for marinades, pastes and dressings with basic ingredients such as olive oil, citrus and herbs. We’ll walk you through techniques for marinating, working with skewers and making tzatziki sauce from scratch.

July 8: Summer Garden Picnic

The Dallas arboretum is a beautiful backdrop to share a special picnic experience with your loved ones. Join us to learn cooking techniques for garden-inspired small-plates, tips on preparing a stress-free menu that are perfect to bring people together. We will create some of our favorite small plates like antipasto skewers, assorted tartine, Sicilian potato salad, and even learn how to make homemade blackberry curd cheesecake.

August 5: Hearty Seasonal Salads

Nothing tastes better than a refreshing salad in the middle of the blazing heat of summer. We will teach the art of well-composed salad inspired from seasonal and local ingredients and play around with thoughtful pops of color and bursts of flavors and textures. After this class, you will no longer be intimidated by the idea of making your salad dressing, including a punchy vinaigrette or a creamy herb buttermilk dressing.

This fun cooking class is a tutorial and hands on instructional adventure that will show you how to develop char and bold flavors commonly associated with outside charcoal grilling. This class is intended to be an interactive experience for couples.
