Farm to Fork Series with Greer Farms

The Dallas Arboretum has teamed up with Greer Farms out of Dangerfield, Texas to offer a series of cooking classes, a different menu every class, taught by Chef Eva Greer.

March 25: Crepes, Savory & Sweet - Moroccan carrot salad, chicken broccoli crepes, and strawberry lemon ricotta crepes

Savor Macaron Baking Class

When you bite into a silky, creamy, and fluffy macaron, have ever thought about being able to make them at home? Now you can when a cooking class at the Dallas Arboretum. The macaron cookie was born in Italy in 1533 with the name meaning fine dough.

  • March 7: we'll enjoy a delicious tour of homemade Italian favorites. From our mouth-watering lasagna cupcakes made with fresh handmade pasta, to classic garlic bread and perfectly sweet cannoli rolls.
  • March 14: Come chop, mix, and swirl your way through the sumptuous flavors of French pastires - both savory and sweet - as we create Ratatouille tarts, cheese twists, and classic choclate-dipped Madeleine cookies from scratch.
  • March 21: Our signature Around the World Series is on its way back to the USA! Join us as we create and enjoy flavorful favorites that are sure to please everyone's palate. From personal pizzas to a fresh take on zucchini fries, and patriotic red, white, and blue cupcakes.
  • March 28: Let's take your palate on a tour and enjoy exotic favorites from Asia, including inventing your own Japanese veggie sushi rolls, delicious dumplings, and hand-made pocky sticks.
  • April 7: Get ready to head south of the border. Join us as we create and enjoy flavorful favorites including delicious empanadas, fresh guacamle with handmade chips, and top it all off with melt-in-your-mouth churro bites.

Globally-Inspired Garden Fresh Salads Hands-On Class

As part of the annual public education campaign for National Nutrition Month 2018, Cindy Kleckner promotes this year's theme, "Go Further with Food." This hands-on class showcases fresh ingredients that explode with natural flavors and textures. For lunch and quick dinners, salads have never been easier with Cindy's fresh mix and match combinations with easy homemade dressings. You'll learn to pair greens with pountry, pasta with seafood, and grains with vegetables for simple but elegant meals.

Chocolate & Champagne Cooking Class

Wednesday, April 4, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Test Pavilion, A Tasteful Place

$65 ($60 for Members)

Nothing pairs better than champagne and chocolate. Sip on a glass of champagne while watching one of Dallas' premier chocolatiers, Zach Townsend, teach guests the secrets of truffles. The class begins with participants sampling a selection of fine chocolates while the chocolatier discusses the origins of chocolate and how chocolate is made. After the tasting, guests will don aprons for a fun lesson and demonstration creating sumptuous chocolate ganache as a center for classic French truffles. Participants will also hand roll dark chocolate truffles and take them home in individual boxes to enjoy, along with a copy of the recipes.

Gather: Garden to Table Cooking Series

Registered Dietitians Emily Weeks and Dixya Bhattarai welcome you to their summer cooking series entitled, Gather: Garden to Table. A fun, hands-on class that promotes seasonal cooking and a love for food. Refine your kitchen skills and explore new ways to incorporate fresh in-season produce from your garden or local grocer. Great for all levels of experience, from seasoned cooks to beginners looking to expand their culinary skills.
