Participate in a demonstration cooking class, taught by Chef instructors with assistance from students who attend El Centro College’s nationally–recognized culinary institute. This session is designed to refine your kitchen skills and showcasing seasonal produce found in A Tasteful Place. The MIND Diet has the potential of reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. MIND is short for the Mediterranean-Dash Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay. A hybrid between two well-known diets: the Mediterranean and DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension). In honor of healthy aging month, join Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Cindy Kleckner and explore the “brain-healthy” food groups and how to incorporate them into your daily eating plan for a satisfying way to live the rest of your life!

Spend some thyme with Kay Goodman as she shares recipes from her cookbook “Thyme with Friends.” Created from a desire to preserve her friends’ favorite recipes. This demonstration is free with admission into the garden. Don’t miss Kay’s entertaining stories about cooking experiences and biggest fiascos. Pick up a cookbook while visiting the demonstration.

Guests can try a sample of something fresh that's currently growing in in the garden such as pak choi, cilantro, onion, garlic, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, celery and lettuce.
