Brighten your day with bold color and playful form in this beginner-friendly art class inspired by Henri Matisse and his love of blue. Students will sketch and paint an oversized paper vase using rich Ultramarine Blue, starting with simple contour drawings of vases seen in Matisse’s work. Along the way, you’ll explore symmetry and asymmetry, experiment with gentle line movement, chunky brushstrokes, and printed marks, and learn how to combine strokes to suggest leaves and petals. The class concludes with a beautiful, two-sided paper vase that slips over a glass cylinder—perfect for displaying fresh cut flowers at home. Beginners welcome; all guidance provided.
