Arboretum Sensory Friendly Family Day
November 5, 2017 | 8-11am
$5 per person
Includes Main Garden access only
Join us for a very special Autumn at the Arboretum Sensory Friendly Family Day on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 8-11am. The Dallas Arboretum education staff will be joined by Dr. Tina Fletcher, EdD, OTR, of Texas Woman’s University School of Occupational Therapy and her team of occupational therapy students.
This specifically designed, “go at your own pace” exploration program will be held outdoors in the Lakeside Exhibit area, located behind the Jonsson Color Garden, to give participants a chance to enjoy and interact with nature. A sensory room facilitated by occupational therapy students from Texas Woman’s University, will be located inside our classrooms at the Visitor Education Pavilion in the Main Garden (Gate 1). Activities will include a multi-sensory exploration of pumpkins, photo scavenger hunt, nature obstacle course, and autumn inspired art activities. After your program, explore the Pumpkin Village and the beautiful garden displays throughout the Main garden. This special event does not include access to the Children’s Adventure Garden, but admission can be purchased at any ticket booth for $3. Check in for this event will be from 8:00-10:00am.
Pre-registration required. Registration closes November 3, 2017. No fee for Dallas Arboretum members.
Sign up for the weekly Children's Adventure Garden email and be the first to know about what's new in the garden.
During Autumn at the Arboretum and Dallas Blooms, parents can bring their children to Mommy and Me Mondays and Tiny Tot Tuesdays for face painting, music, petting zoos and other seasonal fun. Family Fun Fridays offers the same exciting programming during Summer at the Arboretum.
