Red, yellow, purple and orange. Why do leaves change color in the fall? Find out why and more in the Plant Lab, where we will actually pull the pigments out of leaves using chromatography. Beneath the green, there’s a world of color to explore. Appropriate for ages 6+

Habitats
Birds are one of nature's most fascinating engineers! From hummingbird nests the size of a thimble to the great nests of the American Bald Eagle, birds are masters of adaptation. What sort of nest will you create from the materials around?

The meals we enjoy today are the product of thousands of years of exploration and experimentation. A turkey sandwich, grapes, and potato chips for lunch would never have been possible before the 1400s! Discover where your food comes from in our Omniglobe Presentation.

Join is in the OmniGlobe Theater to go on a journey with the Pilgrims. Learn where our Thanksgiving traditions came from and where we get all our yummy food.
Making the Mayflower: The Physics of Floating 12:00 p.m.
Pure Energy
Set sail with the pilgrims and learn how they used wind and water energy to connect two continents. Create your own boat and set sail!
Rockin' Art! 4:00 p.m.

Explore the beautiful world of Native American Rock Art and discover how they made bright colors using pigments from plants and rocks.

Holiday Hunt for Santa’s Helpers (All ages can participate!)

November 24–December 24, Throughout the Children’s Adventure Garden

Help look for Santa’s helpers, like a frog on a log, a deer right here, a fox in the rocks, a squirrel on a whirl, an owl on a trowel, or a bobcat in a hat. Take a picture with four (4) of Santa’s helpers and bring them to the Exploration Center to redeem a prize.


Letter-Writing to Santa (Appropriate for Ages 5 and up)

Mondays-Fridays Only, All Day November 26 - December 24, Exploration Center

Come to the letter-writing workshop to write a letter to Santa. Special paper, pens, stickers; everything you would need to catch Santa’s attention is provided. Some of Santa’s helpers may stop by with some inside tips.
