Discover the mystical connection between humans and animals through the lens of Zapotec cosmovision in this hands-on painting workshop led by the master artists of Taller Jacobo & María Ángeles. Rooted in the traditions of Oaxaca, this experience invites participants to engage with the rich spiritual symbolism of tonas and nahuales—animal guides believed to protect and guide us throughout life.

Participants will select a handcrafted sculpture and learn the intricate painting techniques that bring these figures to life. Under the guidance of the artisans themselves, you’ll explore the gestures, symbols, and colors that define this unique tradition, gaining insight into the deeper meanings and cultural research that support their world-renowned artistry.
