The gardens often reach their most lush and beautiful state during our summer festival! Summer at the Arboretum might surprise you. Our gardens remain lush, green and happy, full of entrancing beauty.

Thousands of feet of misters, a host of beautiful water features and hundreds of shade trees combine to offer a cooling experience that makes the garden all the more stunning. Whether you want to get outside with the family for a picnic, enjoy an amazing concert set against sunset over White Rock Lake, you’ll find a wonderful way to spend the day at the Arboretum during the summer.

Summer recurring favorites are back! Kick-start your week with a refreshing mimosa during Mimosa Mondays, enjoy family time in the garden during Family Fun Fridays, listen to a rotating cast of local DJ’s curated tunes for Saturdaze and more.

Celebrate the Children

Mark your calendar for the return of acclaimed sculptor Gary Lee Price and his newest exhibit, “Celebrate the Children,” which features beautiful, hand-crafted bronze sculptures of various children placed throughout the gardens and provide the perfect photo opportunity for guests.

Nature Walk Bingo Weekends

Take a break from stress and take a nature walk in the garden. Pick up a BINGO card from the information booth and snap selfies in the highlighted gardens for that weekend and find the hidden gem. Complete a BINGO and win a special prize by returning your card to the information booth. Participate every weekend and be entered for a grand prize– a pair of Cool Thursday 2020 Concert Season Tickets.

Horticulture Manager Joseph Farmer harvests right out of the garden in A Tasteful Place. Watch and learn about, the vegetables, fruits, or herbs he is harvesting. Don’t miss Gary Lee Price’s Greenthumb bronze sculptures in the potager gardens.

Member Mornings
Daily – May 25 through November 2, 7-9am
Members can enjoy early access into the garden in the cool hours of the morning in a safe environment. Take in the peace, quiet and beauty that the garden offers as an escape from the concrete jungle of our city. No photography is allowed.

Garden Tea

Summer BBQ Garden-to-Table Dinner

Celebrate being halfway through the Texas summer heat with a True Texas barbecue dinner. Dinner includes three courses while overlooking the sunset and Dallas skyline on White Rock Lake. Enjoy smoked quail on a smoked burrata and tomato salad. The main course includes the famous Texas Trio plate with beef ribs, turkey and pulled pork, served with fried okra from the gardens and a fresh smoked succotash. Finish the evening with some Maker’s Mark bourbon pecan pie. Each course includes a beer to accompany it, and Oak Highland Brewery gives some extra pours and history on their beer selections.

Join Lorie Fangio, teaching chef and owner of A Taste of Paris™, for a Gourmet Picnic class where YOU will pack and Take a picnic for TWO! Lorie will teach the recipes in this light hands-on class, each dish will be packed in adorable containers to be taken and eaten at your own private picnic. This promises to me a super fun way to spend a few hours! It all begins with side dishes, Vibrant Pesto Pasta Salad loaded with fresh vegetables and tangy Apple Cabbage Slaw. We will prepare the chef’s favorite, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, a picnic staple. Beef and Blue Cheese Sliders wrapped and tied for cuteness will be a picnic showstopper served along with cute and refreshing Fruit Skewers. Beat the heat and enjoy a hands-on experience learning to prepare a meal beginning with a peach and jalapeno sauce that is used for the appetizer and the entrée. Next, create a tasty peach caprese and a balsamic glaze salad, followed by two entrees of grilled salmon and pork chops, served with the peach and jalapeno sauce, along with garlic fondant potatoes. End the class by discovering how to make an easy dessert of Phyllo cups and puff pastry with a mascarpone and vanilla bean mixture, topped with fresh peaches.

Father’s Day Weekend

June 15 & 16

All dads receive a complimentary iced tea at the Terrace Café or at Café on the Green.

Celebrate Father’s Day at the garden all weekend with Classic Chassis Car Club Dallas displaying more than 20 classic cars Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. Enjoy live music performances at the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn from 2-4 p.m. The Vinyl Stripes: Rockabilly Surf Music Band takes the stage on Saturday, and The Blandelles entertain audiences with oldies rock and roll covers on Sunday. All Dads receive a free iced tea from the Terrace Café or at Café on the Green. Sample craft beer from noon to 3 p.m. at A Tasteful Place both days. On Sunday, experience the Window to the Wild bird show on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn at 10:30 a.m., free with paid garden admission.

9am-5pm: Father’s Day Car Show, featuring Classic Chassis Car Club Dallas. Gaze and learn about over 30 classic cars in the garden.

11am-2pm: Enjoy two of Dallas’ best food trucks, Rick’s BBQ Smokehouse and Just Encased, all weekend long.

It’s never too early for Christmas in July! Cool down with a gelato demonstration from Popbar. Who knows, Santa might be looking to cool down too and might make an appearance to enjoy a gelato with you. Popbar will stick around to trim the tree while selling their products until 2pm.

Enjoy Christmas food activities including decorating a gingerbread house and Christmas cookies.

Memorial Day Weekend

Active & retired military and first responders receive free admission (with valid ID)

Kick off summer with $2 hot dogs and root beer floats. Emporium Pies’ ice cream truck, complimentary face painters and a petting zoo are onsite all weekend from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Enjoy craft beer samples from noon-3 p.m. at A Tasteful Place and live music every day at the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn from 2-4 p.m. The Red Wine Band kicks off the weekend bringing their Texas Country sound to the garden on Saturday. On Sunday, dance with one of Dallas’ most popular dance bands, Downtown Fever, an Emerald City Party Band. K3 Sisters, an indie folk-pop family band delights with their unique sound and talented multi-instrumentalist band members, on Monday from noon to 2 p.m.

Fourth of July Weekend

Our nation’s independence deserves a celebration two weekends in a row.

Enjoy $2 hot dogs and root beer floats, complimentary beer samples from noon to 3 p.m. at A Tasteful Place, and some of Dallas’ best food trucks both weekends.
