Family Day Trip with Children

Family Day Trip with Children

Kids love the Dallas Arboretum even before they make their way to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. The wide open spaces, the chance to escape into nature… it’s a perfect way for a family to relax and reconnect.

1. Start at the Info Booth

Visit the Information Booth located at the main entrance for maps, free wheelchair rentals (on a first-come, first-served basis), $10 wagon rentals, scavenger hunts and much more.

2. Grab a Scavenger Hunt Map

Visit the Information Booth located at the main entrance for maps, free wheelchair rentals (on a first-come, first-served basis), $10 wagon rentals, scavenger hunts and much more.

Test your Arboretum knowledge with this fun and educational tree scavenger hunt. Download the PDF and print it from home, or pick up a copy from the Information Booth. This fun activity for kids will not only entertain, but will also serve as a great guide through the gardens. Answers available here.

3. Plan Your Snacks Ahead of Time

The Lula Mae Slaughter Dining Terrace is located in the Ginsburg Family Plaza just past the main entrance. Seasonal soup offerings, hot and cold sandwiches, as well as delicious fresh salads are available for purchase. Enjoy a freshly made lunch on the Lula Mae Slaughter Dining Terrace or order it to-go for a picnic in the garden.

4. Grab a Picnic in Jonsson Color Garden or Magnolia Glade

Just down the Paseo de Flores you’ll see the large lawns surrounded by large, beautiful trees. Stake out your spot, drop down a blanket and your picnic basket or cooler of food and snacks, and enjoy the wide open spaces.

5. Visit the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden

The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden is just beyond the Martin Rutchik Concert Lawn. Admission to this garden is $3 in addition to general garden admission.
